South of Kasnäs are the twin islands of Rosala and Hitis. Connected by a bridge, these strikingly beautiful islands were once frequented by Vikings on their voyages further east. Treasures like blades, coins, buckles, and even rune stone fragments have been recovered here, proving that the strait between Rosala and Hitis was once used as a harbour and marketplace. This thrilling tale is presented at the Rosala Viking Centre, a reconstructed Viking village where the annual Viking Days festival takes place. As well as Viking relics, Rosala and Hitis have decent facilities and services and the islands are easily accessible by ferry from Kasnäs.
